During a protest rally against incidents of violence that occurred during an anti-Waqf Act demonstration in West Bengal, far-right monk Madhuram Sharan Shiva targeted Christian missionary schools, labelling those who send their children to such institutions as traitors. He further claimed that Hindus constitute only 8 to 12 percent of the population in eight states, and called upon Hindus to unite in order to build a “Hindu Rashtra.”
