A 65-year-old Muslim man died on Thursday after succumbing to injuries sustained during a brutal assault at his residence in Phulwaria village, located in Bihar’s East Champaran district, over a four-month-old comment on social media.

On Wednesday, 65-year-old Sheikh Wajul Haq Sahib in the Dhaka police station area of Motihari district of Bihar, was brutally beaten by a mob inside his house.

According to a statement issued by Motihari Police, around 08:00 pm, an argument broke out between two groups from the same neighbourhood over a Facebook comment made four months ago, which turned into a fight.

Police said that five persons, including the main accused, were arrested last night, and Strict legal action is being taken against the culprits.

CCTV footage of the incident has been seized, and security has been tightened with police personnel and magistrates deployed in the village in three shifts.

As a precautionary measure, SDM, SDPO are deployed in the village with 100+ forces to maintain law and order. Apart from this, two more DySp (Areraj DSP and Cyber DSP) have also been deputed.
