At the “Prabuddha Bharat – An Intellectual Social Responsibility” event, BJP leader and lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay peddled the conspiracy theories of “love jihad”, “land jihad” and “ghuspaith jihad” (infiltration jihad), falsely claiming that these activities, including religious conversion, receive foreign funding through hawala. He alleged that 3.5 lakh girls fall victim to “love jihad” and that 6 crore “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators) are present in the country. He also claimed that the alleged terrorist hideouts India attacked in Pakistan and POK were actually located beneath mosques, madrasas, and markazes, posed a rhetorical question about whether such places have been targeted in India, and suggested that their numbers are higher in India than in Pakistan.
