NEW DELHI – A Muslim man was brutally assaulted by a group of men from the Hindutva group Bajrang Dal after accusing him of supplying beef on the route of Kanwar Yatris in Kashganj district of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday.
The victim was identified as Altaf Hasnain hailing from the same district and the incident happened in Mallahnagar village.
A video of the assault has gone viral on the social media showing several men mercilessly beating up Hasnain after surrounding him from all sides. They can be seen relentlessly kicking, punching and hitting him with stick till he falls on the ground while one person shouting ‘beat him’ from the back. They continue kicking him even he falls on the ground.
Initially, the police arrested the victim and sent the sample of the beef for forensic investigation. After the video of the assault went viral, the Kashganj police put out a statement on the social media stating that an FIR was lodged in the matter related to the assault.
