Sri Ramadasa Mission president Shantananda passed derogatory remarks against Vavar of Sabarimala during an event organised by Hindutva groups in Pathanamthitta’s Pandalam.
The priest alleged that Vavar was established around 30 years ago in Sabrimala and the deity should not be associated with Lord Ayyappa. He then said, “Vavar was a Muslim invader, a terrorist who had come to attack Ayyappa.”
Shantananda also stated that Vavar should not be worshipped as he was a Muslim. Instead, ‘Vapuran’ should be worshipped.
For the event, the organisers had invited BJP’s ex-Tamil Nadu state president Annamalai. He inaugurated the event and during his speech, he attacked Kerala and Tamil Nadu Chief Ministers Pinarayi Vijayan And M K Stalin.
A case was registered after the hate speech by the Pandalam royal family. The complaint filed by A. R. Pradeepa Varma has been registered against the sage for hurting religious sentiments and creating enmity between religious groups.
Earlier, another complaint was filed by Congress media spokesperson Advocate V R Anoop.
