Far-right monk Yati Narsinghanand, speaking at a religious conference, claimed that accepting the region as “Hind” amounts to accepting Islamic slavery, calling it a name given by Muslims and alleging that when Muslims say “Jai Hind,” it means “we will win Hind one day.” He termed Muslims “mad cannibal-dogs” and claimed that the fight is with “Islam.” He targeted Darul Uloom Deoband, alleging that it controls the Taliban and was responsible for massacres of Hindus in Bangladesh. He claimed that soon Muslims would stand outside Hindu homes and that there would be no one to protect them. He described Islam as an “organised gang of criminals.” Hindu Raksha Dal national president Bhupendra ‘Pinki’ Chaudhary peddled the conspiracy theory of “love jihad” and targeted Dalits raising slogans of communal harmony. He glorified assaulting a woman whom he claimed had “eloped” with a Muslim man. He also claimed that they “bring” Muslim women and marry them to Hindus. Another speaker encouraged Hindus to arm themselves and demanded that gun licences for Hindus be approved as widely as possible.
