Aklera/Rajasthan: A group of men brutally assaulted an elderly man in Rajasthan’s Aklera town in Jhalawar district, accusing for eating beef. The assailants branded him a “Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrator”. The shocking incident, which happened around January 2nd in the BJP-ruled state, was filmed and is viral on social media, Maktoob Media reported.

The video shows the man lying on the ground and 8 to 10 men surrounding him, kicking him repeatedly and hitting him with sticks. The man could be seen pleading weakly.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) in Jharkhand condemned the incident and said that mob lynching has become alarmingly frequent in BJP-ruled states. RJD Jharkhand leader Anita Yadav said that despite knowing the root cause of mob lynchings, neither the central government nor the BJP-ruled state governments are taking strict actions.

She referred to lynching cases in the recent past, including the death of Angel Chakma and a singer who was earlier killed in similar violence.

Anjel Chakma, a 26-year-old MBA student from Tripura, died on December 26 after being brutally assaulted in a racially motivated attack in Dehradun, triggering widespread outrage across the Northeast and renewed calls for accountability.
