Tension prevailed in Amberpet, Hyderabad, on Thursday night after some participants in a Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti procession allegedly raised slogans near the Jama Masjid while Taraweeh prayers were underway. Police intervened and brought the situation under control.

Slogans Raised During Taraweeh Prayers

According to local reports, the incident occurred around 10 p.m. when a group taking part in the procession passed in front of the mosque and allegedly shouted slogans while prayers were going on inside.

People returning home after offering Taraweeh prayers gathered near the mosque and also raised slogans in response. The slogan shouting reportedly continued for about five minutes before police stepped in.

An officer from the Amberpet police station said the issue was mainly related to noise levels. “The sound from the mosque was above the prescribed limits. Some members of the procession objected to it. We intervened immediately and asked those concerned to reduce the sound,” the officer said.
