A professor at PES University has been suspended after allegedly referring to a Muslim student as a “terrorist” multiple times and making remarks such as linking the Iran war to “people like you” during a classroom session, creating a hostile environment.
A video from Tuesday at the university’s Electronic City campus shows Professor Dr. Muralidhar Deshpande aggressively using the term in front of around 60 students.
According to the video, he allegedly referred to the student, Affan, as a “terrorist” at least 13 times and made additional abusive remarks.
The professor is heard shouting, “Do you feel no shame,” before adding, “I thought I will be very calm today.”
The professor is also accused of making a series of abusive remarks, including blaming “people like him” for the Iran war, saying that Donald Trump would “come and take him away,” and telling the student that he would “go to hell.”
Meanwhile, many allege that the CCTV footage of the incident was deleted and that some students who supported Affan faced disciplinary action. While the professor reportedly submitted a written apology to the institution, he has not directly apologised to the student.
