A video has surfaced a day after a police encounter involving a 35-year-old Muslim man identified as Shoaib Ahmad in Bijnor on March 15, raising questions about the sequence of events that led Bijnor Police to shoot him in the leg.
According to the Uttar Pradesh Police, Shoaib was injured during an encounter after he allegedly attempted to snatch a sub-inspector’s pistol while being taken for a medical examination following his arrest.
Police said the accused tried to fire at officers, prompting them to shoot him in the leg in self-defence.
However, a video that emerged on social media a day later appears to show several people beating a man on the terrace of a two-storey house.
In the footage, the man is seen being brought downstairs, where he is allegedly assaulted in the presence of police personnel. The individual, said to be Shoaib, appears unable to walk and does not resist as officers carry him away.

The development comes amid allegations that Shoaib was involved in an attack on the homes of Vipin Chauhan and Amit Sharma, local functionaries associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).
The houses of an RSS karyawah and a VHP leader are located opposite Shoaib’s residence, reports suggest.
