The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday ordered day-and-night security for a Muslim man from Bareilly who alleged that he was prevented from offering prayer inside his private property.

A division bench comprising Justices Siddharth Nandan and Atul Sreedharan passed the order while hearing Haseen Khan, who appeared before the court seeking protection for himself, his family and his property.

The matter arose from a petition filed by Tarik Khan seeking permission to offer prayer at his property during Ramadan.

The court directed that two armed guards be assigned to accompany Haseen Khan wherever he goes until further orders.

The bench also ordered that the District Magistrate of Bareilly, Avinash Singh, and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Anurag Arya, appear before the court on the next date of hearing.

“Pursuant to the last order passed by this Court, the prospective contemnors,  District Magistrate, Bareilly, Avinash Singh, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Bareilly, Anurag Arya,  shall remain present before this Court on the next date of hearing, when the judgment shall be delivered,” the bench said.
