In Champawat, CM Dhami Says ‘Jihadis’ and Encroachers Will Not Be Allowed to Settle

Location: Tanakpur, Champawat, Uttarakhand

During the Sharda Corridor foundation stone laying ceremony and Magh Khichdi programme, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted his government’s measures to maintain the “cultural composition” of the state by implementing laws against religious conversion, “love jihad,” “land jihad,” and “thook jihad,” asserting strict action against those who conceal their identity and trap women. He claimed the Congress opposes such measures out of appeasement and vote-bank politics, alleging it finds no fault with alleged “illegal encroachments.” He asserted that action against “land jihad” had resulted in “freeing” over 11,000 acres of government land from “land jihadi,” claiming the Opposition opposes their actions against “land jihad” and accused them of disrupting the demography by allowing Muslim settlement. He asserted they won’t let any “encroacher” and “Jihadi” settle within the region. He further argued that the government was acting against a “divisive mentality” through the dissolution of the Madrasa Board with restrictions to the prescribed curriculum and closure of around 250 alleged “illegal” madrasas. He claimed the aim was to establish “temples of knowledge and values,” not “separatist centres of radical mindset” that mislead children, adding that even this action faces Opposition resistance. Dhami also referenced “Operation Kalnemi,” describing it as a campaign against individuals he alleged were harming Sanatan Sanskriti by concealing their identity, further accusing the Opposition of opposing the initiative.
