In Mainpuri, Armed Monk Says Islam Must Be Eliminated From India

Location: Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh

During a Virat Hindu Sammelan marking the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), far-right monk Madhuram Sharan Shiva, leader of the armed monks’ group Shiva Shakti Akhada, alleged that Hindus were being looted, beaten, and reduced in number, claiming the “saffron land” was turning “green” and “white.” He asserted that under Islamic rule, Hindus could not pray or organise festivals without paying taxes and described Islam as “terrorism” and “darkness.” He invoked Keshav Baliram Hedgewar and his mother and alleged that Islam must be eliminated from India. Citing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, he narrated an anecdote about punishing cow slaughter by “chopping off the butcher’s finger,” hoisting the saffron flag, and establishing “Hindu Swaraj,” declaring the land as belonging to Hindus. He further accused Muslims of vandalising festivals, setting up stalls to dominate spaces, and harassing Hindus, and urged Hindu youth to organise themselves to protect their religion.
