
A disturbing case of mob violence has emerged from Surajpur in Chhattisgarh, where a man was allegedly beaten, partially tonsured and paraded in public over suspicion of theft.
The incident took place in Pasta village under the Ramanujnagar police station limits and has triggered widespread outrage after videos of the humiliation surfaced on social media.
The victim has been identified as Mohammed Rahman Taj, a 32-year-old resident of Kalyanpur.
Called for ‘settlement’, attacked by mob
According to reports, Rahman was accused by locals of stealing wires from a solar power system. He was allegedly called to the village by local leaders, including the sarpanch’s husband, for a discussion.
Rahman arrived with his wife, expecting a settlement. However, the situation quickly turned violent as a mob gathered and allegedly attacked the couple.
