MAHOBA — A deeply touching story from Mahoba district in Uttar Pradesh has drawn attention after an 86-year-old Hindu man collapsed on the road following a sudden injury, while his long-time Muslim friend stepped in to save his life.
The saga has clearly defeated attempts in some quarters to sow the seeds of hatred between the two communities.
The incident took place in Sheikhunagar locality, where Murlidhar Tiwari was walking when glass pieces pierced his foot. He began bleeding heavily and soon became unconscious on the roadside.
According to local accounts, a crowd gathered at the spot but no immediate help was offered. The situation became critical as the elderly man lay injured without assistance.
At this moment, Ishaq Khan, a close friend of Tiwari, was informed about the incident.
“I did not think twice. I just ran to help him,” Ishaq Khan said.
Ishaq Khan reached the location and, with the help of a young passerby, lifted the unconscious man and took him on a motorcycle to the district hospital emergency ward.
He said, “He is like my elder brother. I could not leave him in that condition.”
At the hospital, Ishaq Khan stayed with him throughout the treatment, arranged medical care, and ensured his dressing was properly done.
