A fact-finding team of the Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR) Maharashtra unit has reported a significant divergence between official records and public narratives surrounding the alleged sexual misconduct and religious coercion case at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) Nashik unit.
The team, which visited Nashik on Friday examining FIRs, court proceedings, media reports, and field interactions, found that the “veracity, consistency, and evidentiary support” of these allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial scrutiny.
The report observed that while some complaints include references to remarks perceived as affecting religious beliefs, “no conclusive material has been established” to indicate any organised or systematic activity of religious conversion.
It added that each complaint is being examined independently by investigating authorities.
Highlighting a key concern, the team pointed to a widening gap between verified allegations and public discourse.
“Certain narratives… have extended beyond the scope of FIRs and official records,” the report said, noting that terms such as “corporate jihad” have emerged primarily from commentary and social media rather than substantiated evidence.
“No evidence of an organised “love jihad” conversion conspiracy has been confirmed by investigators,” they said.
The fact-finding also noted conflicting claims regarding internal grievance mechanisms. While victims’ statements suggest a hostile work environment and failure of redressal systems, the company has maintained that no formal complaints were received through its ethics or POSH channels prior to the FIRs.
The report further addressed media portrayals of individuals in the case, particularly Nida Khan, who has been described in some reports as an “HR manager” and “mastermind.”
