During a rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Indian National Congress of attempting to introduce a communal violence law to appease vote banks, claiming it would target the majority and lead to their “exploitation” while treating minorities only as victims. He labelled the Opposition “Muslim League–Maoist Congress” and accused it of enabling “ghuspaith” (infiltration) and supporting “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators) by giving them free rein. He alleged that “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators) are encroaching on land belonging to farmers and Adivasis, accused the Opposition of protecting and settling “foreigners”, and warned that this would turn original inhabitants into minorities in parts of Assam. He framed this as a threat to farmers, Adivasi and forest land, and called for strict action against alleged encroachment. He asserted that the BJP-NDA government would not allow “ghuspaithiya” (infiltrators) to take over land and would safeguard Assam’s “identity and pride.”
