International Hindu Parishad (AHP) president Dr Praveen Togadia has once again triggered a political and social debate after making a series of strong remarks at a workers’ conference in Harbertpur. The event was organised by the International Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal, where Togadia attended as the chief guest and was welcomed by Hindu organisation members.

Known for his hardline Hindutva views, Togadia used the platform to call for unity and preparedness among Hindus, saying that the community must remain organised and ready for self-defence.

He said, “Hindu society must stay united and be prepared to protect itself,” a statement that immediately drew criticism and debate on social media, with many users questioning the need for such messaging and asking whether it reflects a lack of trust in law enforcement and government institutions.

Call for Larger Hindu Families and Population Debate

During his address, Praveen Togadia also urged Hindu families to consider having more children, suggesting that population strength is necessary for the community’s security and future.

He said, “If Hindu society wants to remain strong and secure, it must seriously think about having more children.”

His remarks on population control later continued during his interaction with the media, where he called for legal measures on population regulation in India.

Togadia said, “There should be a law for population control in the country,” adding that demographic planning is essential for national balance.

Announcement of Nationwide “Shastra Pooja” Campaign

One of the most controversial parts of his speech was the announcement of a nationwide campaign for “Shastra Pooja” (worship of weapons) during Vijayadashami.
