Communal tensions escalated in Uttar Pradesh’s Khoda area after members of Hindu Raksha Dal and other Hindutva groups gathered outside mosques during Friday prayers, disrupting worship and raising anti-Muslim slogans, despite heavy police deployment.

Large groups of protesters assembled near mosques in the locality during Jumu’ah prayers, reportedly blocking access and severely disrupting congregational worship.

Videos circulating on social media showed demonstrators raising provocative slogans, including “Goli maaro saalon ko” (“Shoot the bastards”).

The mobilisation took place despite extensive security arrangements by the police.

Authorities had deployed a heavy security presence in the area, conducted flag marches led by senior officers, including DCP Dhaval Jaiswal, and used drone surveillance in an effort to prevent any communal flare-up.

The protests were by members of several right-wing groups, including Hindu Raksha Dal and Rashtriya Hanuman Dal.
