In Darjeeling, Amit Shah Targets Muslims and ‘Infiltrators’ in Campaign Speech

Location: Darjeeling, West Bengal

Key themes from Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah’s campaign speech: “The Mamata government’s budget for tribal development, the hills, Adivasis, and North Bengal is around 2,000 crore, while 5,800 crore is allocated for Muslims and madrasa education. This injustice will not continue for long. Should Bangladeshi ‘ghuspaithiya’ (infiltrators) be removed or not? Should Rohingya be removed or not? Should ‘ghuspaithiya’ (infiltrators) be removed or not? In the SIR process, Mamata Banerjee and the administration have removed some Gorkha names from the voter list, but that does not matter, we are going to win the seats anyway. After the elections, the BJP will restore every Gorkha name to the voter list. At the same time, the BJP will identify and remove each ‘ghuspaithiya’ (infiltrator) from North Bengal. Will Bengal be made ‘ghuspaithiya-mukt’ (free of infiltrators) or not?”
