During a protest organised by VHP–Bajrang Dal against “love jihad,” leader Nishant Tyagi invoked a recent case involving TCS in Nashik, citing allegations of s*xual harassment and religious conversion. He claimed that “Mulli jihadan” were converting and exploiting Hindu women, forcing them to befriend Muslims. He called for an economic boycott, urging Hindu businesses not to employ or buy from “jihadis,” alleging they would use the money to facilitate religious conversions, and stated they should be rendered unemployed. He further peddled the anti-Muslim conspiracy theories of “thook jihad” and “mutra jihad.” Another speaker promoted the conspiracy theory of “love jihad” and claimed that it posed a greater threat than terrorism. Another speaker alleged that Muslim women also participate in “love jihad.” Protesters burned an effigy and raised slogans such as “jihadi should be hanged,” “stop love jihad,” “stop land jihad,” “stop thook jihad,” and religious conversions.
