Members of Hindu Jagran Manch, led by Tanke Deka, demolished Muslim houses along the route to Poa Mecca hill and warned Muslim food vendors and residents to vacate the area within a week. Poa Mecca, a historic pilgrimage site regarded as a symbol of communal harmony, has long been visited by both Muslims and Hindus. Earlier, on May 10, Hindu Jagran Manch members had also demolished and burned several houses belonging to Muslims in the area.
