Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, speaking at a rally celebrating his victory, declared that he would not open an MLA office in Ward No. 77, dog-whistling about the ward’s significant Muslim population, but would establish MLA offices in the remaining seven wards. Earlier, on May 4, the day the results were announced, he had claimed that Muslims from Ward No. 77 did not vote for him.
