A Muslim woman was allegedly forced to remove her niqab and made to endure public humiliation by a group of Hindutva supporters after she was seen with a Hindu man in Bihar’s Nawada district, according to a viral video that has triggered outrage on social media.
The incident, which reportedly took place last week in Kamalpur Nawada, came to light after a video of the alleged harassment surfaced on social media on Thursday.
The footage purportedly shows the woman repeatedly pleading in front of the group to stop as they filmed her and subjected her to religious intimidation.
According to the surfaced video, the group forced the woman’s Hindu friend to apply sindoor on her forehead while recording the incident.
As the woman protested, one of the men is heard saying, “Video to banega. Saboot to rahega” (We will make the video. There should be evidence), before others removed her niqab and exposed her forehead. The group can also be heard shouting “Jai Bajranbali.”
The woman’s partner/friend is seen requesting the group not to harass her.
