At Maharana Pratap Jayanti, far-right monk Madhuram Sharan Shiva, leader of the armed monks’ group Shiva Shakti Akhada, glorified Maharana Pratap for resisting the Mughals and raised the slogan “shastra mein vijayate” (“victory lies in weapons”), asserting that those who do not carry weapons have their religious scriptures torn apart and idols destroyed.
