Hindu Raksha Dal has announced that its members will visit Darul Uloom in Deoband on August 11 to offer Ganga water, claiming that a Shivling exists beneath the Islamic seminary’s premises. The organisation’s decision was revealed in a video message released on Saturday by Lalit Sharma, the Uttarakhand state president of Hindu Raksha Dal.
According to Sharma, office-bearers of the organisation, led by its national president Pinky Chaudhary, will carry sacred Ganga water from Haridwar to Deoband for the planned offering. He stated that the group had earlier approached the Saharanpur administration seeking an official enquiry into its allegation that a Shiv temple stands on the Darul Uloom premises. However, no action was taken by the authorities in response to their request.
Following the lack of response, the organisation resolved to visit the seminary itself and perform the ritual of offering Ganga water, Sharma said. The announcement has drawn attention to the sensitive nature of the claim surrounding the historic Islamic institution.
Reacting to the development, Deoband Circle Officer Amit Kumar Singh made it clear that authorities would not tolerate any disruption. “Nobody will be permitted to disrupt law and order. Legal action will be taken against anyone who attempts to disturb the atmosphere,” the police officer stated, underscoring the administration’s resolve to maintain peace in the area.
