In Surat, Hindu Groups Protest Housing Allotments to Muslim Families

Location: Surat, Gujarat

Residents of several housing societies, along with members of far-right Hindu groups, protested the allocation of more than 60 government tenement houses to Muslim families in what they described as a Hindu-majority neighbourhood. Speakers at the protest described Muslims as “tapori” and “anti-social elements,” claimed that their presence would disrupt peace and make life difficult for Hindus, and demanded the immediate cancellation of the allotments.
