Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, speaking at the closing ceremony of a Ram Katha event by Swami Rambhadracharya, promoted the anti-Muslim conspiracy theories of “love jihad” and “land jihad”, comparing them to the actions of demons in Hindu mythology. He termed them a conspiracy to change the religious demography of the country. Swami Rambhadracharya referred to Muslims derogatorily as “kathmulla” and peddled the conspiracy theories, claiming that Lakshman Tila is a result of “land jihad”, referring to the Alamgiri Mosque, which Hindu nationalists claim had been built over a temple. He invited BJP MLA Neeraj Bora to the stage and tasked him with clearing the land.
