Avijit Chandra Das, state president of Hindu Suraksha Samiti, during a meeting organised by the organisation, invoked violence during the Partition and the Bangladesh Liberation War, terming them massacres of Hindus, and called for revenge, asking attendees if they would avenge them. He claimed that Muslims killed Hindus during the Partition and alleged that they now claim to believe in secularism. He asserted that West Bengal is a Bengali Hindu homeland and would not be secular. He also declared that they would not let Hindu women marry Muslim men and would demand laws banning such marriages. He further declared that they would not sell land to Muslims and would not let anyone else do so. The attendees also chanted slogans such as “The Razakars of ’46, leave the country now,” and asserted that this is not their country and that their country is on the other side of the river, referring to Bangladesh.
