At a “Veer Hindu Vijeta Hindu” self-protection training event organised by the Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad–Rashtriya Bajrang Dal, leader Davesh Upadhyay derogatorily referred to Muslims as “malechhas,” “rakshas (demons),” and “khatmal roopi vidharmis” (“bedbug-like heretics”), and promoted the use of “pigs” as a means of self-defence against them. He peddled the anti-Muslim conspiracy theories of “love jihad” and religious conversion, alleging that Hindu women were being targeted and that Hindu religious symbols, temples, and idols were under attack. Citing the death of Surya Chauhan, he described Khoda as a “hub of terrorism,” alleging that unregistered madrasas were operating there, that “jihad” was being preached in the name of namaz (prayer), and that Pakistan-linked activities and funding were being carried out in the locality.
