At the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) Kendriya Margdarshak Mandal (Central Guidance Council) day two meeting, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami highlighted his government’s measures to preserve the state’s “cultural and demographic composition.” He alleged that vote-bank politics had created a demographic imbalance by facilitating the settlement of communities in areas where they previously had no presence. He peddled the anti-Muslim conspiracy theories of “love jihad,” “land jihad,” and “thook jihad,” and asserted strict action against alleged illegal encroachments on government land. Dhami also highlighted the dissolution of the Madrasa Board, the closure of over 250 allegedly “illegal” madrasas, and strict anti-conversion laws. He alleged that such madrasas were linked to “anti-national” activities and promoted a “500-year-old mullawadi and mughlai mentality.”
