Aichon Chandra Das, a local resident, was arrested after he reportedly called Riyaz Uddin, a Muslim man with whom he had previously worked, asking for the head of a cow with the intention of placing it at a temple. Riyaz recorded the conversation and, along with members of the All Assam Minority Students’ Union (AAMSU), submitted the recording to the police, leading to Das’s arrest.
