In Jharkhand, BJP Leader Targets Christian Missionaries and Calls Them “Black British”

Location: Khunti, Govindpur, Jharkhand

At an event organised by the Sarna Sanatan Samiti, BJP leader Kamlesh Ram accused Christian missionaries of attempting to “occupy” local land and alleged that they were farming on it as part of a larger conspiracy. Referring to Christians as “black British”, Ram claimed that while the “whites” had left India, some people remained in the country who wanted to “make us slaves”. Addressing the Sarna community, he urged them not to become “tools” of Christian missionaries, accused the latter of luring members of the community and usurping their land, and assured the gathering that his organisation would fight for their rights. Referring to the Pathalgadi movement, he alleged that the release of those accused in related cases had emboldened Christian missionaries. He further asserted that any attempt to “occupy” local land would be resisted “in the same way they fought the British”. He also assured the audience that, if the police failed to cooperate in cases of alleged illegal land occupation, he would ensure that “justice is brought”.
