Hindu nationalist organisations, including the VHP–Bajrang Dal and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), organised a protest against “love jihad.” Participants raised slogans including “Jihadis, leave Bengal” and “Burn and break the arms of these love jihadis,” and alleged that Muslim men impersonate Hindus on Facebook to trap Hindu women. They urged Hindu women to “beware” of “love jihadis,” accused them of murdering and s*xually assaulting Hindu women after concealing their identities, and called for them to be “driven out of Bengal.”
