During a police reconstruction exercise, four Muslim men were beaten with sticks and by hand, forced to walk barefoot through a crowd, dragged by their hair, and paraded in handcuffs despite not being convicted of any offence. Following the incident, Mujahid Nafees, Convener of the Minority Coordination Committee (MCC), submitted a complaint to the Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP), alleging that Surat police had violated Supreme Court guidelines and a Gujarat DGP circular.
