Hindu nationalist supporters staged a protest chanting “Muslim Bhagao, Desh Bachao” (“Drive Out Muslims, Save the Nation”) and “Jihadi Bhagao, Desh Bachao” (“Drive Out Jihadis, Save the Nation”), while demanding that Nepal be declared a “Hindu Rashtra.” The protest followed communal violence triggered by the playing of a DJ during the Bol-Bom Yatra, the replacement of a Muslim religious flag with a Hindu flag, and incidents of stone pelting, which culminated in one person being killed in police firing.
