In Kanpur, Far-Right Monk Calls for Beheading “Jihadis”

Location: Kidwai Nagar, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh

Far-right monk Madhuram Sharan Shiva, leader of the armed monks’ group Shiva Shakti Akhada, speaking at a Shiv Katha, claimed that Ram should belong to every caste and community, including Arya Samaj, Sikh, and Jain communities, but not “Miya” or Christians. He called for “Dashrath-like” fathers to raise sons who would take up arms and “behead jihadis,” arguing that parents should teach children to protect dharma rather than prioritise money and wealth. He called for mothers to be like Jijabai, who taught children to study and fight, and urged them to give birth to “dharm yodhas.” He criticised the Kanwar Yatra, claiming people carry 100 litres of water but will not hold a “trishul” (trident,) and questioned why yatra routes were changed after alleged stone-pelting, claiming it is because Hindus are weaponless. He criticised the depiction of Hindu deities holding what he called fake weapons, claiming Hindus themselves were erasing their identity and peddled the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “love jihad,” calling it a curse of Durga and Kali. He blamed Durga pandals and performances by women such as Sapna Choudhary, whom he referred to with the derogatory slur “r*andi,” for Hindu girls eloping with Muslim men, claiming girls raised for 20 years become “Nafees’s” in six months. He further claimed Hindus had been taught to prioritise the false lesson of “nation first,” while those following the “religion first” had created several countries while Hindus were now taking their “last breaths” asserting that there was no city or town where “vidharmis” (non-Hindus) were not flourishing.
