At a Vishva Hindu Parishad Sthapna Diwas event, a speaker claimed that ‘ghunghat’ (veil) was not part of Hindu tradition but was imposed during the Mughal era after Mughal emperors allegedly abducted brides from daytime weddings, forcing Hindus to hold weddings at night and adopt the veil. He claimed that Hindus lived in “slavery” and faced injustice under Mughal rule, and urged families to remain “extremely vigilant” about Hindu girls associating with Muslim boys on social media. Another speaker described religious conversion as the “greatest cause of concern,” alleging that Muslim and Christian missionaries target economically weaker sections of Hindu society through inducements and other methods, and said the VHP was committed to countering these efforts.
