Assam minister and BJP leader Ashok Singhal questioned whether “Miyas” (Muslims of Bengali origin) were allowed to set up stalls at the Bhaona event and asked authorities to ban them, saying they have different cultures and eat what Hindus worship. He declared that this would not be permitted in his constituency. He asserted that he neither supports Miyas nor those who engage with them. He further urged the press to highlight his support for Hindus and his hatred for Miyas, claiming it would please his supporters.
