Bajrang Dal members harassed former Sahitya Akademi award winner Uday Bhembre and his family over his comments on Shivaji. They accused him of ignoring Portuguese atrocities and demanded he address ‘love jihad’ and other far-right narratives. The group was outraged by Bhembre’s mention of historical figures that challenged claims of Shivaji conquering most of Goa. They issued threats to Bhembre and his wife—both over 85—and only left after his family intervened.
