In a disturbing incident highlighting rising communal frictions, a young Muslim man in Bihar’s Madhubani district sustained serious head injuries after being attacked by a participant in a Hindu religious procession.

The altercation erupted when the victim politely asked the group to reduce the volume of their DJ system during prayer time, only to face violent retaliation.

Mohammed Ibrahim, in his early twenties, was visiting his paternal aunt’s home near a local mosque on the day of the incident. As the procession—marked by loud music and chants—passed by the mosque, the call for namaz (Islamic prayer) echoed through the neighborhood.

Seated inside the house initially, Ibrahim stepped out toward the mosque but noticed the procession lingering unusually long. Mindful of the sacred timing, he approached the group and courteously requested they either proceed or lower the DJ volume to allow undisturbed worship.

What began as a simple plea quickly escalated into aggression. One participant, identified as a Hindutva worker, flew into a rage, snatching Ibrahim’s topi (prayer cap) and hurling it aside in a gesture of blatant disrespect.

The confrontation turned physical moments later, with the assailant striking Ibrahim forcefully on the head. Left defenseless and alone, the young man collapsed from the blow, suffering severe trauma that required immediate medical attention.

Eyewitness accounts from Ibrahim’s family paint a picture of unprovoked brutality. His elder brother, Mohammed Isqar, recounted the horror: “Ibrahim was sitting in the house when the procession was passing. It was taking a long time. When the call for namaz came, he proceeded towards the mosque.
