A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) booth-level agent has been booked in Hyderabad for allegedly using Form 7 to seek the deletion of 30 Muslim voters from the electoral roll in the Musheerabad Assembly constituency during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

An FIR was registered against S Balachander following a complaint by the Musheerabad Electoral Registration Officer (ERO).

Form 7 is used to object to the inclusion of a name or request the deletion of an existing name from the electoral roll.

According to the complaint, the forms submitted by Balachander had already been printed with the names of the voters whose deletion was sought. This raised concerns that the forms may have been prepared in advance and distributed to BJP booth-level agents for submission.

The 30 voters named in the applications also included a Congress booth-level agent.

Electoral officials conducted personal field verification on October 1 and found that all 30 people whose names had been flagged for deletion were residents of Musheerabad, according to the FIR.

“Therefore, the Form 7s in question cannot be accepted and are liable for rejection,” the FIR reportedly said.
