Dalit Woman Alleges Molestation, Caste Abuse in UP’s Mohanlalganj; Police Inaction Accused (The Observer Post)

By The Observer Post

Dalit woman has alleged that she was molested, threatened, and subjected to caste-based abuse near a farmhouse in the Mohanlalganj area, while also accusing the police of failing to act on her complaint.

The woman said the incident took place last Thursday when she was on her way to drop her child at school. She alleged that a man residing in Omaxe City, along with his associates, used caste-based slurs against her near a farmhouse and threatened to kill her if she used the route again.

She further alleged that when she objected, the accused molested her and attempted to forcibly take her inside the farmhouse. She managed to escape and returned to her village, where she informed her family and other residents.

Village Protest and Escalation

Following her complaint, villagers reportedly reached the spot and protested. According to villagers, the accused brandished firearms during the confrontation, after which tensions escalated and the mob assaulted the accused.

Police Complaint and Counter-Case

The woman said she submitted a written complaint to the police but alleged that instead of registering her case, officers scolded her and sent her away. She further claimed that a case was instead registered against the villagers based on a complaint filed by the accused side.
