FIR Registered Against BJP Leader Nazia Elahi in Bhiwandi Over Offensive Remarks on Prophet Muhammad (The Observer Post)

Two FIRs have been registered in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region against BJP Minority Morcha leader and social media influencer Nazia Elahi Khan, 41, over alleged derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad that reportedly hurt religious sentiments.

The first FIR was registered on Monday evening at Shanti Nagar police station in Bhiwandi. The case was filed based on a complaint by local resident Adnan Ansari, who said he came across an Instagram podcast reel in which Khan allegedly made offensive remarks during a conversation with a host.

According to the complaint, Ansari consulted community members before approaching the police.

Police book case under IT Act and hate speech provisions

Senior Inspector Vinayak Gaikwad confirmed that a case has been registered under sections related to deliberate acts intended to outrage religious feelings, along with relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act.

Police officials said they are also examining whether the investigation should be transferred to West Bengal, where the accused currently resides.

Second ‘zero FIR’ filed in Mumbai, case likely to be transferred

A second case, known as a “zero FIR”, was registered on Tuesday at JJ Marg police station in Mumbai over the same social media content. A senior officer confirmed that this FIR will be transferred to West Bengal for further investigation.
