Hundreds of Muslim voters in Ahmedabad’s Jamalpur Assembly have allegedly been declared “dead” and removed from the electoral rolls during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Gujarat, triggering allegations of targeted voter disenfranchisement and the political misuse of electoral procedures.

The objections have been reported primarily from, where voters claim their names were flagged for deletions despite being alive, having filled SIR forms, and having been included in the initial draft electoral rolls.

According to residents and local leaders, objections were filed using Form 7, which is intended for the deletion of names due to death, shifting, or duplication. They allege that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers submitted these objections, falsely declaring Muslim voters as deceased.

One such case involves Arab Farid Miyan, a voter from the Jamalpur Assembly constituency, ward No. 19, whose voter serial number is 823.

Despite being alive, an objection was filed claiming he was dead. Residents pointed out that the voter card number mentioned in the objection did not match his records.
