Members of Bajrang Dal and other Hindu nationalist organisations harassed an interfaith couple at a court when they arrived to register their marriage, calling it “love jihad” and chanting slogans against it. The protesters—including lawyers, the woman’s relatives, and members of several Hindu nationalist groups—alleged that the man had abducted the woman and claimed she had not gone with him willingly. Following the protest, the woman was taken back to her family. The group also targeted the marriage registrar, alleging bias because he is Muslim and claiming the registration process was unfair.
