In Ahmedabad, Thousands of Muslim Homes Marked For Demolition

Location: Chandola Lake, Ahmedabad, Gujarat

The Municipal Corporation has launched the second phase of a demolition drive aimed at razing 7,000 Muslim households. The police described the operation as “action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants,” with Police Commissioner Gyanendra Singh Malik referring to the locality as a “hub of Bangladeshis.” Residents, however, asserted that they have been living in the area for 50 to 70 years and insisted that they are Indian citizens.
