During a Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, far-right monk Madhuram Sharan Shiva, leader of the armed monks’ group Shiva Shakti Akhada, issued an explicit call for violence in the name of religion. He urged “Dashrath-like” fathers to raise sons who would take up arms and “behead jihadis,” while criticising Hindus for prioritising wealth over faith. He called for vigilante action, invoking figures like Jatayu to justify violence against those he described as “rakshas.” He mocked reliance on law enforcement, claiming figures like Hanuman do not go to the police to file complaints. He alleged that threats are increasing daily and that “Ravan’s lineage” is being born within Hindu households. Calling for mobilisation, he urged people to raise children for “dharm yudh,” warning that without this, both religion and land would not survive.
