The municipal corporation demolished over 450 Muslim households, alleging them to be illegal encroachments. While they had notified residents in advance, stating that those with proof of residence prior to 2010 would be provided with alternative housing, residents claimed that officials refused to accept documents submitted. One resident alleged that although 216 houses were allotted earlier, some of them were already occupied by others who refused to vacate.
