In Barari, Himanta Sarma Compares Candidate to Osama, Targets ‘Ghuspaithiya’

Location: Barari, Katihar, Bihar

Key themes from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s campaign speech: “I went to campaign in Raghunathpur and was told the opposition candidate is Osama. I asked our workers whether his name was Osama or Osama Bin Laden; they said his name is Osama but his work is like Osama Bin Laden. I said– Bihar is the land of Janki Maiya and Sita Maiya; no Osama can live in Bihar. Be it Osama, Babur or Aurangzeb, we need to push all these people out of the country. Now that the voter lists in Bihar have been revised, about 70 lakh ‘ghuspaithiya’ (infiltrators) names have been removed. As long as ghuspaithiyas remain on the rolls, Tariq Anwar will continue to win. Once we remove those names, Tariq Anwar can never win in this lifetime. Congress and the RJD work for ghuspaithiyas and even dream of them. In Assam, Muslims make up about 40 per cent of the population, and many among them are Bangladeshis and ghuspaithiyas. We fought, formed the BJP government, and are now deporting them or clearing land of encroachments.”
